Compass, Dresses, Lover; Gone

The River

The wind from the cool water in the river
Soothes my summer warm skin

I see my reflection in the river
A girl I hardly recognize
She begs me to jump

And oh oh oh here I go
I’m flying free towards the surface
And oh oh oh will you still be there
Somewhere under the sea, and will you catch me?

As I face the blackness of the river
I see my life pass before my eyes

There you are swimming in the river
And there am I freezing on the shore
You tell me to jump

But oh oh oh there you go
You swam away and left me drowning
And oh oh oh will you stay there
Somewhere under the sea, and will you catch me?

Year after year I went down to the river
To see if you waited there for me

And now I give myself up to the river
And to the voices in my head
They urge me to jump

And oh oh oh here I go
I’m flying free towards the surface
And oh oh oh will you still be there
Somewhere under the sea, and will you catch me?
